MTA PRESENTS AWARDS AT GOVERNOR’S CONFERENCE ON TOURISM
Receiving the award for Tourism Promotion of the Year was Visit Hattiesburg. As Mississippi’s third most visited city, Visit Hattiesburg was cited for their updated digital brand portfolio, which included a comprehensive website, omnibus video, tourism asset inventory and social media campaign that highlighted shopping, dining and entertainment. A social media campaign with hashtags engaging local merchants and attractions to increase visitor traffic was a successful tool in attracting more than 1.8 million visitors in 2016. In May 2017, a new website launched that featured a design around the needs and inquiries of their visitors’ and is easy to navigate. The site gives exposure to small independent coffee shops and live music venues, along with larger, more established attractions in the community.
